Rev. Drew Frantz
Minister’s Biography
I was born and raised in eastern Massachusetts before attending college and graduate school in the western part of the state. I discovered Unitarian Universalism in 1999 and began attending the UU Church in Amherst while teaching and raising my two young children.
In 2001, I moved to Oberlin, Ohio, where I have remained a member of the Oberlin Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. I worked at Oberlin College while continuing my career in education, including 14 years as a public school teacher.

In 2016, I felt called to ministry and made the decision to transition from education to parish ministry. I attended Meadville Lombard Theological School, one of the two Unitarian Universalist seminaries. My ministerial training included an internship in Wooster, Ohio, and a unit of hospital chaplaincy training in Cleveland. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2019.

In September 2019, I began serving the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Michigan. The congregation ordained me in July 2020 and called me as its settled minister in January 2021. This is my first ministry.

In my free time, I enjoy singing, hiking, and jogging. I especially love exploring Michigan's natural beauty, from the Chippewa River to the shores of Lake Michigan.
