Spirituality

As Unitarian Universalists, we recognize a diversity of spiritual paths and a deep unity in our journey together. Within this church are people who pray, meditate, write, create art, practice mindfulness, read reflectively, and people who have no formal spiritual practice at all. We do not all speak the same words, perform the same rituals, or understand the sacred in the same ways.

Within that diversity, however, is our unity and our strength. Whatever form our spiritual life takes, we believe there are truths that connect us: our lives begin and end in mystery; the universe is vast, and we are both small and deeply connected; we make our own choices, yet our lives are intertwined with every person and living thing.

Our spirituality is both an individual path and a shared journey in community. It is personal, shaped by lived experience, guided by generations of wisdom, and strengthened by the support and insight of others. Its expression may change over time, while remaining grounded in the enduring realities of being human.

We come to this church because tending the inner flame of the spirit — whatever language we use to describe it, and whatever practices help nurture it — is an essential part of who we are.
