Social Justice

Faith in Action

Many people are drawn to UUFCM because of our commitment to social justice and community action. Ours has often been described as a faith of “deeds, not creeds” — a faith grounded not only in belief, but in how we live, serve, and work toward a more just and compassionate world.

We invite you to explore the many ways to connect with the UUFCM community through our ongoing Faith in Action initiatives. Over the years, members and friends of the congregation have participated in shoe and boot drives, the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace March, voter outreach efforts, demonstrations at the State Capitol, food donations to local organizations, monthly third Sunday plate collections, and many other community-focused efforts.

The opportunities for involvement continue to evolve. If there is a social justice issue you feel passionate about, we encourage you to bring your ideas, energy, and creativity to the conversation. Please contact the current chairperson of the Social Justice Coordinating Team to learn more or get involved.

About the Social Justice Coordinating Team

The Social Justice Coordinating Team (SJC Team) helps connect members and friends of UUFCM with opportunities to engage in meaningful action at the local, regional, state, national, and global levels. Inspired by love and guided by our values, we work together to support efforts that help transform ourselves and our world.

The SJC Team regularly shares information about community events, volunteer opportunities, advocacy efforts, and urgent needs through the eNews, worship announcements, fellowship hall bulletin board, and social media channels.
